Every piece in this collection is a vertical panoramic photograph of Antelope Canyon, Arizona — the narrow slot canyon carved by centuries of flash flooding through Navajo sandstone. The vertical format exists because the canyon itself is vertical: light enters through a narrow crack far overhead and falls in shifting beams down smooth, curved rock walls, and a tall, narrow print is the only shape that holds that sense of looking straight up out of a slot in the earth.
Photographing inside the canyon means working with a very narrow window of direct light, usually around midday, when a beam can reach the canyon floor — the rest of the day the walls shift through deep oranges, reds, and purples as light bounces between the sandstone surfaces instead of hitting it directly. Each print is made to order and personally signed by Alexander, on archival Fujiflex paper or as a Lumachrome TruLife acrylic face-mount — well suited to a narrow wall, stairwell, or hallway where a standard horizontal piece wouldn't fit.
