Artist`s Tale:
Reading Antelope Canyon As Abstract Art
Most Antelope Canyon photographs work at a distance — a wide shot showing how one wall curves against another, or a beam of light cutting down through the whole passage. "Dragon Throat" does the opposite: a tight, close-up composition where the sandstone`s grain and curve become the entire subject, with no wider context to anchor the eye. Cropped this close, the rock stops reading as a canyon wall and starts reading as pure shape and color — closer to abstract painting than landscape photography. That`s possible here specifically because of how Antelope Canyon`s walls were formed — flash floods eroding soft sandstone over millions of years, carving smooth, flowing curves rather than the sharp, angular breaks you`d get from a harder rock. Almost any few square feet of wall can work as its own composition. This piece pairs with "Dance Of Life" and "Between The Worlds," both shot much wider in the same canyon system. Every piece in this collection is a limited edition, made to order and personally signed, printed on archival Fujiflex paper or as a Lumachrome TruLife acrylic face-mount, starting at $900. See the sizing guide for help choosing a size for your wall.Print Information:
Alexander Vershinin individually produces limited edition prints to museum-grade standards, on world-leading photographic paper. The
Fujiflex Crystal Archive is an ultra-high-gloss, museum-grade photographic paper, with archival properties spanning over 70 years.
Alexander also offers the trademarked printing and mounting process
Lumachrome Gallery Deluxe, with archival properties spanning over 120 years.
Both processes deliver exceptional sharpness, contrast, and color reproduction.
Concentrated light hits the print, is held briefly in the silver crystals of the emulsion, and reflects back out — producing an image with real visual depth, almost as if it were lit from within.
The photograph is mounted to a rigid dibond backing plate and finished under Lexan or Perspex — a super-transparent, non-shattering, anti-glare acrylic. This acrylic layer is completely colorless and shows the print at its best.
It also blocks 98% of UV light and holds up well against weather, temperature, and humidity changes, which is a large part of what gives these pieces their long archival life. For a more classic, finished look, custom wooden
Roma frames are also available.
Each print is delivered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, noting the work's title, edition number, and Alexander's original signature — a lasting record of provenance for your collection.
Whichever you choose — an unframed print rolled in a hard tube, an acrylic face-mounted float, or a finished framed piece — you're getting a real, collectible piece of fine art photography, produced to the highest standard available.
