Artist`s Tale:
Why Ships Rust Faster By The Barents Sea
This is another of Teriberka`s abandoned vessels, on Russia`s Barents Sea coast in the Murmansk region, but "Rust And Revenge" is built around the decay itself rather than the contrast between old and new that runs through the rest of this collection`s Teriberka pieces. Saltwater corrodes steel far faster than fresh water — the salt acts as an electrolyte, speeding up the electrochemical reaction between iron and oxygen that produces rust — and a hull left exposed to Arctic sea spray for decades develops a texture no paint or maintenance schedule could replicate on purpose: layered, uneven, streaked orange-brown wherever water has run down the metal repeatedly. That texture is really the subject here — not the ship as a whole vessel, but the surface itself, close enough that the rust reads as its own kind of landscape, with ridges and pooled color built up one freeze-thaw cycle at a time over years of exposure. It`s a much more detail-focused piece than "The Guardian," which frames a similar wreck at a distance within its wider coastal setting.Print Information:
Alexander Vershinin individually produces limited edition prints to museum-grade standards, on world-leading photographic paper. The
Fujiflex Crystal Archive is an ultra-high-gloss, museum-grade photographic paper, with archival properties spanning over 70 years.
Alexander also offers the trademarked printing and mounting process
Lumachrome Gallery Deluxe, with archival properties spanning over 120 years.
Both processes deliver exceptional sharpness, contrast, and color reproduction.
Concentrated light hits the print, is held briefly in the silver crystals of the emulsion, and reflects back out — producing an image with real visual depth, almost as if it were lit from within.
The photograph is mounted to a rigid dibond backing plate and finished under Lexan or Perspex — a super-transparent, non-shattering, anti-glare acrylic. This acrylic layer is completely colorless and shows the print at its best.
It also blocks 98% of UV light and holds up well against weather, temperature, and humidity changes, which is a large part of what gives these pieces their long archival life. For a more classic, finished look, custom wooden
Roma frames are also available.
Each print is delivered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, noting the work's title, edition number, and Alexander's original signature — a lasting record of provenance for your collection.
Whichever you choose — an unframed print rolled in a hard tube, an acrylic face-mounted float, or a finished framed piece — you're getting a real, collectible piece of fine art photography, produced to the highest standard available.
