Twilight

Delicate Arch at twilight, Arches National Park, Utah
Most photographs of Delicate Arch chase the same few minutes right around sunset, when the sandstone glows warm orange and the arch is silhouetted against a colorful sky — which is also when the largest crowds gather at the overlook, since it`s the classic, most reliable shot.

Delicate Arch After The Crowd Leaves

Most photographs of Delicate Arch chase the same few minutes right around sunset, when the sandstone glows warm orange and the arch is silhouetted against a colorful sky — which is also when the largest crowds gather at the overlook, since it`s the classic, most reliable shot. "Twilight" was shot in the window just after that, once the sun has fully dropped below the horizon and the warm glow fades into the cooler, more muted blue tones of dusk. That later window empties out considerably faster than the sunset crowd does, since most visitors start the 3-mile hike back to the trailhead as soon as the color fades. The arch itself looks completely different in this light — softer, less dramatic, but with a stillness that`s hard to get in the middle of a sunset crowd. It`s a quieter counterpart to "The King Of Immortal World," shot at the same arch during its more famous golden window.

Print Information:
Alexander Vershinin individually produces limited edition prints to museum-grade standards, on world-leading photographic paper. The Fujiflex Crystal Archive is an ultra-high-gloss, museum-grade photographic paper, with archival properties spanning over 70 years. Alexander also offers the trademarked printing and mounting process Lumachrome Gallery Deluxe, with archival properties spanning over 120 years. Both processes deliver exceptional sharpness, contrast, and color reproduction. Concentrated light hits the print, is held briefly in the silver crystals of the emulsion, and reflects back out — producing an image with real visual depth, almost as if it were lit from within. The photograph is mounted to a rigid dibond backing plate and finished under Lexan or Perspex — a super-transparent, non-shattering, anti-glare acrylic. This acrylic layer is completely colorless and shows the print at its best. It also blocks 98% of UV light and holds up well against weather, temperature, and humidity changes, which is a large part of what gives these pieces their long archival life. For a more classic, finished look, custom wooden Roma frames are also available. Each print is delivered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, noting the work's title, edition number, and Alexander's original signature — a lasting record of provenance for your collection. Whichever you choose — an unframed print rolled in a hard tube, an acrylic face-mounted float, or a finished framed piece — you're getting a real, collectible piece of fine art photography, produced to the highest standard available.
